Mixtape: Viktoria Søndergaard from Baryl with what is going on
Viktoria Holde Søndergaard is a vibraphonist, composer, bandleader – and a NoCoM-student at RMC currently spending the semester with our partner conservatory in Oslo.
Viktoria’s jazz quintet Baryl mixes bebop with avant-garde and free jazz, politics and humor. Their latest album release asks the question ‘What the hell is going on?’ – and with this mixtape she gives her take on what the hell is currently going on in contemporary jazz.
"The most important thing is to use music to question the world," she says in the Danish intro to the mix, which features music from her own hands (in part together with a certain Danish percussion legend) as well as from other exciting names on the scene.
