Project

3D Sound Production

By Morten Büchert

A study of how the gap between intuition and interaction can be reduced for the mixing sound engineer. The aim has been to explore alternative methods and equipment for mixing music which more closely approximate the manner in which music is communicated and conceptualised. We have studied the sensory area in depth and involved students to a great degree in skills enhancement and knowledge-sharing in relation to this approach to music mixing.

The project was partly funded by a special grant from the Ministry of Culture for collaborative research projects between the academies of music and the universities, and was conducted in co-operation with Steven Gelineck and Dan Overholt (Department for Architecture, Design and Media Technology, Aalborg University) and Jesper Andersen (Royal Danish Academy of Music).

The project has resulted in three articles.
