Sound Technology (ST)Purpose
The purpose of the Bachelor programme in Sound Technology is to qualify you to become a sound technician, primarily in relation to contemporary music. The Bachelor is a full, independent 3-year degree programme which qualifies you for the labour market. In addition to this, the degree forms the basis for further studies in the 2-year Master programme in Sound Technology, which will be established in collaboration with the Recording Director Master programme at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and which will have its first intake of student in September 2011.
Job opportunities
Bachelors in Sound Technology will typically find employment on the live music scene and in recording studios, in theatre, television, films, as teachers etc.
Qualifications
Upon completion of your degree you will have acquired competencies in sound engineering as well as musical, logistic and communicative skills, qualifying you to work as a sound technician in connection with music production, both studio production and live production.
Structure and organization of the programme
The Bachelor programme is rated at 180 ECTS credit points, the full-time equivalent of three years of 1,620 working hours each. A one-year full-time equivalent includes all the work that is required in connection with the programme, including classes, self-studies, exams and all other study-related activities.

In the beginning of the programme teaching will be class-based – typically involving the ST students from the same year of study. Later on in the programme, there will be more focus on individual study activities, e.g. in the form of individual productions and studies abroad.
The teaching is organized as a combination of scheduled classes, courses, camps, project weeks etc. In the course of the programme, the ST students will also participate in various self-organized productions in collaboration with students from RMC’s other programmes.
Full-time study
The Bachelor in Music Production is a full-time study programme. Attendance to the teaching is compulsory, and in addition to this you will be expected to participate in various evening and weekend activities in connection with concerts, studio productions etc. Thus, you will not be able to have extensive work activities or pursue your own career parallel with your studies.
The primary language of instruction is Danish. In connection with foreign guest teachers or study trips, however, the teaching will typically be conducted English. |
