Music Performance (MP)Programme aims The Bachelor in Music Performance is a full, independent 3-year degree programme which is designed to provide you with skills as a performing and creating musician with some qualifications as a music teacher. Furthermore, the degree forms the basis for further studies in the Master programme.
Job opportunities The Bachelor in Music Performance caters for applicants aiming at a full-time career as performing musicians with some activity as a music teacher.
In general, the graduates will find employment as freelance musicians in bands, television, radio, theatre, films etc. As music teachers, the graduates will find employment at music schools, MGK (a Danish state funded preparation course for admission to conservatoires), evening schools, folk schools and similar institutions of voluntary music education.
Qualifications Upon completing the programme, we expect you to: - be able to create, perform and communicate your own, artistic concepts;
- be able to develop and perform an artistically based teaching practice:
- have the musical, instrumental/vocal and supplementary skills, relevant to develop and support your profile as an artist and a music teacher;
- be able to create, realise, perform and evaluate projects, independently as well as in collaboration with others;
- be able to integrate into collectively based artistic and teaching processes;
- be able to identify artistic, teaching related and communicative and challenges and to make informed and creative decisions;
- be able to apply knowledge about contemporary cultural trends and the music profession in relation to own, professional practice;
- have knowledge about practice-based processes and methods related to artistic development work;
- have knowledge about music theory and structures;
- have insight into psychological and pedagogical concepts, theories and practice-based processes;
- have insight into contemporary art and culture with focus on music;
- be able to make informed decisions in relation to own professional practice;
- be able to handle professional, complex and development orientated contexts;
- be able to independently integrate into professional and interdisciplinary projects and networks;
- be able to identify own needs for further learning and autonomously to be able to acquire new knowledge and skills.
Structure and organization of the programme The Bachelor programme is rated at 180 ECTS credit points, the full-time equivalent of three years of student workload. A one-year full-time equivalent includes all work required in connection with the programme, including classes, self-studies, exams and all other study-related activities.
The structural focus of the curriculum is to develop you as a creating and performing musician (fig. 1 – yellow arrow). Furthermore, you will acquire artistically based basic teaching qualifications (fig. 1 – green arrow).
In the core of the programme are the artistic performance projects and the teaching projects.
All other curricular activities (fig. 1 – white arrow) are aimed to relate to and to support the core elements. |
