Is it possible to have the application material sent to me by post?
No, the application material is only available on the coordinated website of the Danish Academies of Music: www.musikuddannelser.dk

Which forms of documentation must be enclosed with the application?
When sending your application, you must enclose copies of relevant educational diplomas, recommendations (if relevant) as well as documentation for payment of the application fee (copy of your receipt of payment). You should not enclose cd’s, press cuttings etc., as this type of material will not be considered.
Do not staple the pages of your application together. You may organize the material in your application by using plastic pockets or paper clips.

How important are my upper secondary school grades in connection with the application/entrance examination?
Good grades from upper secondary school are important. The Bachelor in Music Management is a higher education programme which requires good qualifications in language and maths/economy as well as good general study skills, including analytical skills, writing skills etc.

How many applicants are there for RMC’s Bachelor programme in Music Management?
Normally around 50 applicants every year.

How many applicants are admitted to the programme?
Normally six students are admitted each year.

Is it possible to be exempt from the requirement of an upper secondary school diploma?
No, an upper secondary school diploma is required to ensure that the students on the programme have such basic qualifications.

Does my application have to be written in Danish?
Yes, but applications written in Norwegian and Swedish will also be accepted.
The entrance examination itself is conducted in Danish.

Is it possible to follow the MM programme without speaking and writing Danish?
Most of the teaching is conducted in Danish, and the level of studies requires good Danish skills.

Does documented work experience count in connection with the application/entrance examination?
Documented work experience will be included in the general assessment on equal terms with other criteria, such as knowledge of the music industry and music in general, cooperative skills, formulation skills, general study skills, personal motivations etc.

Which types of work experience will carry most weight?
All types of work experience count, but of course it will more relevant if you have work experiences from the music industry or the cultural sector generally. You may for instance have had paid or unpaid work, e.g. as a volunteer, at a music venue or a similar place involved with cultural activities.
It is important that you provide a clear description of your work functions and areas of responsibility in your application.

Does it improve my chances of being admitted to the programme if I am a practicing musician?
No, but of course it is not a hindrance either. However, you must keep in mind that the programme does not aim at educating musicians in administering their own career.

My ambition is to work with classical music. Is the programme relevant for me?
No, the focus of the MM programme is on contemporary music (pop, rock, jazz etc.).

Does the MM programme entitle me to Danish state educational support?
Yes.

Can I combine the MM study programme with studies abroad?
Yes, in your third year of study you may apply for a work experience placement abroad. In the second and the third year of the programme, you may apply to go to a foreign educational institution as an exchange student.

Is it possible to work parallel to my studies?
The Bachelor in MM is a full-time study programme which requires a lot of work in the form of class preparation, reading assignments, written assignments, projects etc. Therefore, you should only have a limited amount of work activities parallel to your studies.

Are there any particular expenses in connection with the MM programme?
Yes, you need to have an up-to-date laptop for the course activities. In addition to this, you must anticipate having to spend DKK 1,000-2,000 per semester on course books, etc. Also, expenses in relation to study trips and work experience placements are on the students’ own account.

Can I get a credit transfer for previous studies?
You may be able to get a credit transfer for relevant exams that you have passed at another further education programme. Credit transfers will always be awarded on the basis of an individual assessment of your merits at the beginning of your studies at RMC.

Are there any other study programmes in Music Management in Denmark?
Yes, the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus offers a part-time Diploma course in Music Management. The course is partly financed by participant fees.

Does RMC have a Master programme in Music Management?
No, and RMC is not currently planning to set up a Master programme in Music Management. |
