Admission: Music Education (ME), Music and Movement Education (MME), Music Performance (MP) including European Jazz Master (EUJAM)

Requirements – external applicants
In order to apply for one of the Master programmes at RMC, you must hold one of the following degrees:

  • A relevant Bachelor degree from a Danish music conservatory
  • A relevant Bachelor degree from a foreign institution of higher education, that is equivalent to the level of education at RMC (you must provide documentation in English of your qualifying exams).

The relevance of a Danish Bachelor degrees is assessed in accordance with the Danish conservatories’ rules for equivalent qualifications. If you follow this link, you will get an overview of the degrees that qualify you for admission to the various Master programmes.

Please note that the number of student places in the Master programmes are limited, and that on the whole, only a few external applicants will be accepted.

Who will be eligible for an entry audition?
External applicants with a relevant Danish Bachelor degree will be offered to attend an entry audition.

External applicants holding a relevant foreign Bachelor degree or a Danish Bachelor degree which is not directly qualifying under the Danish conservatories’ rules for equivalent qualifications will be assessed on an individual basis. Applicants whose application is approved will be offered an entry audition.

If you are an external applicant holding a Bachelor degree which does not qualify you directly, the general rule is that the more closely your Bachelor degree is related to the RMC Master programme you are applying for, the greater the possibility is that your application will be approved.

Dates for the entry auditions
The entry audition for the Masters programmes in MP, ME and MME is divided into two parts: round one and round two.

  • The auditions will take place in week 4.

Only applicants who pass round one will be allowed to take round two.

Entry auditions are held with a view to beginning studies in August of the next academic year.

Approximately three weeks before the audition you will receive an email of confirmation inviting you to the first round of auditions, stating the date and time of the tests.

Illness
In the event of illness in connection with the entry audition, you must provide a medical certificate if you want to appear for a make-up examination. Dates for make-up examinations will be determined at the discretion of the conservatory, and you will be notified of such dates as soon as possible.  Appearing for a make-up examination at other times will not be possible.

Entry audition in Danish or English
Normally, the entry audition is conducted in Danish. In the event that the applicant does not speak or understand Danish, the audition will be carried out in English.
